It was rare in the past to witness such overwhelming dominance – the Brits and the Russians ruled the field, in the four Olympic events all golds and silvers were grabbed by the divers of these two nations, altogether they won 11 of the 15 medals on offer in the men’s competition. The Russians won the title-race 3-2 and the medal count 6-5 (men only). Jack Laugher doubled down the 1-3m springboard but was 0.54 points shy with his partner Chris Mears in the 3m springboard – the Olympic champion duo lost to the world champions, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Ilya Zakharov. The platform was ruled by the Russians, they made a 1-2 in the individual event as Aleksandar Bondar enjoyed an exceptional day in the final – before he won the synchro event with Viktor Minibaev.
